Then you might be our new colleague in Maersk’s global Sustainability team. We are looking for a senior expert to develop and drive our sustainability agenda. Your work will cover a broad range of issues across the sustainability agenda. This role will also be the key driver of one of our flagship programs on ‘Reducing Food Loss’. We are proud of our diversity and see it as a genuine source of strength. Key responsibilities As a key part of the job, you will be heading up our newly established flagship program on Food Loss. One third of all the food lost in the world, is lost during post-harvest and transportation. As Maersk transports more than 25% of all refrigerated food, we can play a key role in reducing the food loss. We are currently working to understand how we can best do this to the benefit of the local farmer, our customer and our company. Your role will be to take the learnings to the next level, so we can scale our impact. A second key part of the job is integration and activation of sustainability across the organization – engaging people and functions and further enabling them to make use of the opportunities our sustainability program offers, to understand and act on risks and ensure sustainability is part of decision making. More generally, the following are important job components: • Spotting key emerging issues on the sustainability agenda with relevance for our business. • Translating these trends so that they can be understood in terms of either risks to the company, responsibilities or opportunities for shared value creation and help shape the company’s main priorities and direction in this space. • Working closely with other functions across Maersk to ensure implementation of the priorities and direction. • Engaging in dialogue with external stakeholders to understand societal expectations and be part of shaping the debate, which may include driving joint projects with e.g. NGOs, customers and others – ensuring knowledge is fed back into the company in a practical, accessible way. • As in-house expert for the company you will be advising and supporting our businesses globally on strategic sustainability issues. • Managing ongoing projects and coordinate efforts across the company and its brands. • Representing Maersk in relevant external fora. The position is located in our HQ in Copenhagen, but travel must be expected We are looking for You have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, working with corporate sustainability in large companies. You understand how large organizations work and you have demonstrated in your previous jobs that you can deliver robust results integrating sustainability in an organization. You have very strong project management skills and are able to design and execute on action plans, and you can leverage colleagues’ engagement and capabilities across the organization without formal authority. You are a self-starter with a high energy level and you do not sit around and wait to be told what to do. You are able to find new ways to move forward even when the road seems blocked. Experience working with Food Loss is a clear advantage. You are a strong professional with substance knowledge on the global sustainability agendas broadly and are used to engage in debates and settings with many stakeholders with multiple interests. You have a mature political flair. You have the personal integrity, the social skills and the persona to be trusted by people who are more senior than yourself, and you are able to use these skills to build relationships, influence and drive outcomes through informed dialogue. You are analytical and fact-based in you approach and have an international mind-set. You are fluent in written and spoken English (Danish is not a prerequisite).
