Hi, we’re Who Gives A Crap! We make eco-friendly toilet paper (as well as tissues and paper towels) and donate 50% of our profits to help build toilets for the 2 billion people in need.
We love doing good, and we happen to be exceptionally good at it too! To date, we’ve donated over AUD$8.3 million (roughly USD$5.9 million) to fund sanitation projects around the globe. We’ve grown quickly – selling directly to customers across three continents and have established a strong B2B business in Australia that’s expanding to the UK and US.
Our team is made up of over 100 amazing humans working out of Melbourne, Los Angeles, China, and Manila. We’re working hard to reach our ambitious goals and diversify our product range to ensure we can have the greatest impact possible – both for the planet and its people. With your help, we’re hoping to increase our annual donation 10-fold in the next couple of years and continue to make the most beautiful, eco-friendly goods around.
A bit about the role:
As a brand new roll (woop, pun intended!) on our Strategy Team, our Strategy Analyst will take us deeper into our business data, guide our decision-making processes, and enable max strategic execution of cross-functional projects that will enable the next steps in our journey. You will use your analytical expertise to help us identify our biggest opportunities, as well as notable risks, and will be the driving force behind the development and implementation of high-impact projects for our business that will open the doors to new areas of expertise for us as we grow.
Reporting into the VP of Growth and Strategy, you will not only be a key expert in the Strategy Team, but will be a key collaborator and thought leader cross-functionally throughout our business. With data to support and key partnerships in place, you’ll be the spotter for overarching trends that involve multiple players in the business. You will be in the unique position to find new ways to structure our goals and new ways to improve the way we work together to increase our impact (more bums wiping, and more toilets built!).
When we get in our time machine and fast forward a month or two, here’s some of the work you would have kicked butt on:
You’ve likely honed your skills in a management consulting capacity and found yourself craving the opportunity to see your hard work drive impact long term. Your sweet spot is when you’re deep in a partnership and see your ability to blend your commercial acumen with your amazing data chops bring your analysis to life for your stakeholders. You find yourself building models in your sleep and wake up energised by new ways to present your data and craft a narrative to help get your peers as excited as you are.
You dive (and dive deeeep) into the data
Spreadsheets and charts are your best friends, and you’ve got a proven ability to digest detailed data sets and distill them down into meaningful insights and recommendations. You’re a pro with all the common data visualisation tools and don’t blink an eye at large, meaty datasets that might leave others with their tail between their legs! Well, not actually, but you get the point.
You’re a creative problem solver
You have a drive to find a solution - whatever the challenge may be - and you won’t just take the straight path to get there. You’ll leverage your understanding of our business, your own strategic acumen, and below-the-surface trends (that you’ve made sure to dig out) in order to think outside the box for new ways to approach projects or challenges at hand.
Collaboration is key to your success
You’ve honed the ability to interact with all business functions to not only uncover their needs, but to understand how to best support and enable them through your partnership and collaboration. You find it equally rewarding supporting a team member in understanding an important data set as you do presenting a business-wide project plan to a Leadership team. Ultimately, you’re out to enable us all to work better together and maximise our impact business-wide.

You’re a strategic operator and you’re always zooming out to see the big picture, but you never lose sight of the detail and what it will take to execute at an operational level.

The job is also amazingly flexible, something we’re working hard to hold onto even as we grow super quickly. We started the business remotely, and now have hubs in 4 cities around the world. While the Melbourne team spends a few days of the week together in our coworking space in Collingwood, you can also mix it up and work in your PJs from home or set up office at the beach but, up to you! And while we don’t have a Friday drinks cart (yet), you will get free toilet paper. A lot of it. And nothing beats that.
Lastly, you get to say the word ‘crap’ more than in any other job. Guaranteed.
This depends on your experience but just because we’re a social enterprise doesn’t mean you’ll get paid peanuts. Think chocolate covered macadamia nuts with some extra perks thrown in. In other words, we pay competitively and are determined to make this the best job you'll ever have – you won’t ever want to leave!
