Job Description

We are seeking an entrepreneurial and passionate intern/associate to support our research and strategy activities.  The ideal candidate may be studying for a Masters or Graduate Degree and seeking term-time opportunities for practical, hands-on experience at a fast-moving start-up backed by pedigree entrepreneurs and experts in supply chain and sustainability.

Strategy & Research areas include:

- support data collection for sustainability metrics - identifying credible and relevant sustainability inputs that align with the company’s roadmap and overarching goals of driving transparency in global supply chains starting with apparel.

- apply knowledge and awareness of issues within global supply chains, starting with the garment industry, so we can better evaluate the conditions and associated risks across apparel, garment and textile supply chains and make more informed decisions that drive supplier capacity building and overall reduce social and environmental impact. 

- Provide market intelligence industry’s current sustainability priorities and strategies, with an understanding of competitors in the market.

- Identify data sources, information and opportunities that could serve as credible, relevant and useful inputs to Vertru’s overall data eco-system

-You have experience at an NGO or consulting role that intersects with the fashion industry, supply chain management, workers’ rights or ESG and demonstrable understanding of environmental social governance (ESG) and sustainability.

-You have a firm grasp of fashion industry processes and nomenclature, and you are excited about influencing the industry towards greater transparency, sustainability, and driving change.

-You have worked with large amounts of data before and are comfortable with data analysis and validation

-You have a strong understanding of the dynamics within the fashion industry and the interaction between different stakeholders i.e. brands, fashion buyers, designers, suppliers in production locations with the ability to apply this knowledge to data analysis and analytics

-You are highly organized with some experience with project management.

-You are comfortable working remotely and independently and communicating through project management systems like Confluence, Slack, Zoom and Skype

-You must be fluent in written and verbal English
