In May 2019, TerraCycle launched its newest initiative, Loop, a global circular shopping system that enables brands, retailers and consumers to transition from single-use disposable materials to reusable, durable packaging, washed by Loop and refilled by the brands .  Loop has engaged many of the world's largest consumer product companies (including P&G, Nestlé, Unilever, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, and Mondēlez) and many of the world’s largest retailers in this platform.  Loop is currently available in the mid-Atlantic and Northeastern U.S and Paris and Lille France, with plans to expand into several new markets including Canada, Japan, the UK and Germany in 2020.

Job Overview  –                         

As the global leader in recycling traditionally non-recyclable waste, TerraCycle’s Brand Partnerships team is looking for a self-motivated, polished, and energetic Business Development Associate.

Brand partnerships enable TerraCycle to collect and recycle products and packaging that typically aren’t recycled. We create and develop sustainability-focused marketing programs in collaboration with some of the most recognizable brands and companies in the world (Garnier, Colgate-Palmolive, Arm & Hammer, Burt’s Bees, Febreze and many more) as well as dozens of independent organizations (like Quinn Snacks, Gu Energy, Earthborn Holistic, and more).

This is a unique and fast-paced role for a resourceful, driven individual looking for an exceptional sales opportunity with a global leader in the sustainability field. 

Primary Responsibilities –        

  • Develop new partnerships for TerraCycle’s US Brand Partnerships team by initiating and maintaining a dialogue around TerraCycle’s offerings with marketing and sustainability stakeholders across industries and brands
  • Identify and secure new partnerships for TerraCycle
  • Research and evaluate potential new partners
  • Reach out to potential new partners via e-mail & phone
  • Develop aesthetic client-specific presentations
  • Present TerraCycle’s programs virtually and in person to potential new partners in conjunction with the US Business Development Manager and local Brand Partnerships Business Development team
  • Work with new partners on pricing and finalization of contracts
  • Identify new, profit generating opportunities for TerraCycle

Requirements/Skills –

  • Excellent research, writing and communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Detail-oriented
  • Capacity to successfully manage multiple project deliverables with changing deadlines
  • 1-3 years of sales, marketing or sustainability experience
  • Client-facing experience negotiating and closing business opportunities preferred
  • Experience in the CPG industry or experience with social enterprise preferred
  • Experience leveraging CRM software preferred
  • An entrepreneurial spirit
