Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
    • 7 years of experience in applying sustainability to real estate delivery (design, construction, operations)
    • 5 years of experience in stakeholder/client management

 

Preferred Qualifications

    • Subject matter knowledge of sustainability (energy, water, waste, ecology, health in the built environment, etc.) and sustainability standards, especially those that apply to a district/community scale (LEED, LBC, etc)
    • Experience with and understanding of MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems
    • Ability to travel approximately once a quarter

 

About The Job

Sustainability is embedded in every part of the built environment at Google. We take a holistic approach, thinking beyond just minimizing our negative impact, to how we can enrich the planet, our employees and our communities. The REWS Sustainability Team is responsible for developing sustainability strategy for our global Real Estate and Development teams. We engage across our global real estate delivery teams to facilitate and deliver on our Google Sustainability commitments. The REWS Sustainability Partner is a primary point of contact for all sustainability related initiatives for REWS stakeholders in the New York region. They are responsible for interfacing with key internal decision makers, sustainability program managers across Google, regional and site leads, and delivery teams onsite to ensure that stakeholders are supported with resources, insights and guidance to deliver outcomes aligned with Google’s long term sustainability vision and goals. This position will work with the rest of the REWS Sustainability team to continuously evaluate, evolve and improve sustainability strategy, programs and projects and ensure implementation at the NYC sites.

The Real Estate and Workplace Services (REWS) team creates inspiring spaces and innovative services that bring Google’s culture and values to life. We build and maintain all aspects of what keeps our Googley workspaces operating seamlessly across multiple cities and regions globally. We also manage the industry-leading services that help make Google a great place to work -- from how we design healthy and collaborative workspaces, create energizing food experiences, provide convenient transportation and fitness options, to delivering inclusive environments where Google and our employees can thrive.

Responsibilities

    • Identify and develop regionally relevant sustainability priorities that align with Google’s long term goals and vision
    • Manage internal and external sustainability initiatives including existing vendor relationships and internal business partners
    • Serve as an internal expert on the topics of energy, water, water, ecology, health in the built environment, climate resilience, embodied carbon, and greenhouse gas accounting
    • Cultivate internal and external partnerships to that support sustainability initiatives and programs
    • Stay abreast of local and city sustainability initiative programs; not limited to Local Laws, PlaNYC, Mayor’s Carbon Challenge, NYC Energy Code, NYSERDA
